Next month it’s already time for The Armory Show in New York. If you will be visiting the show, don’t forget to stop by our booth (L-10) on Pier 92 and say hello. You’re also welcome of course to pick up a complimentary copy of M.
Despite the tough economic times we keep hearing about, there is a new art fair scheduled to make its debut during Armory Week. It’s called the Korean Art Show, and this fair is different from most Asian art fairs in that the focus is specifically on Korean art. The roster of galleries looks good, the fair is organized by the same people who produce KIAF in Seoul. In addition, there will be lots of other noteworthy art fairs happening that first of week of March such as Scope, Pulse, VOLTA, etc.
Also worth noting, New York’s L E S (Lower East Side) is picking up momentum. The highly regarded art dealer Hudson’s Feature Inc. found a new home on Allen Street, after leaving its space on the Bowery. This is actually a more interesting area for art because lots of galleries have been popping up along that block. Indeed, yours truly, MBM Publications, is eying space in the neighborhood.
This month’s issue features an architectural report from Hong Kong about the Bi-City Biennale taking place between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, written by Christopher DeWolf. We have also upgraded our Shanghai art map, and soon we’ll add Hong Kong to our art listings section for Asia. I like to think of our magazine as a link between cultures, cross fertilizing ideas from around the globe. Thanks for reading M, and see you at the art shows.
